Next morning a constant knocking tore me out of my dreams. Timo got me out and was all excited. There was absolutely no wind and a nice sound came from shore. Despite not having had a coffee I more or less sprinted over the dunes to have a look. The sky was grey and so was the sea. But out of the fog came the sweetest, cleanest and best sized peaks that I ever had seen on the north sea. We sprintet back, wrestled into our wetsuits, waxed the boards and were back at shore in no time. The beach was nonexistent as the waves were pushing the water right to the chain of dunes that build the coastline. There seemed to be a channel so instead of walking down to the jetties we entered the water right at the end of the track. First duckdive gave me icecream headaches but got me fully awake. A couple of duckdives later I realized that instead of getting further out I was just drifting parallel to shore. My brain was working now, so I let myself be swept back to beach and walked down to the jetty. Timo joined me and if our hairs wouldn´t have been wetted during our failed attempts of getting out before, we would have made a dry hair going out. The waves were a bit overhead, with some juice and fairly fast (very fast for this place). Shortboards worked good and we scored some nice lefts. It started to rain again and after a while a little onshore breeze came so I finished the session for some desperately needed breakfast. Around early afternoon the wind had died and the waves were smaller but still a lot of fun. I grabbed the longboard and had another very nice session. Crowds were pretty small compared to the madness during past summer but the surfing skills ot the girlz and boyz have improved a lot. With the many peaks braking along the shore everyone had a fair share of fun waves. A huge load of pasta and some beers savoured in Jörg´s comfortably heated van finished a perfect surfing day.

Sunday morning was calm with now pretty small waves in Norre Vorupor. I decided to check some better orientated areas of the coast further south to get more of the remnants of the south swell. Allways eager to loose as little time as possible on the way to the beach I left the main road before the lake and took the small countyroad through the woods. When the piste came to the dam I considered the sometimes soft sand on the dam for a second, but I never had any problems passing the soft parts of the piste on this dam, so I drove on. Jörg and Lenka just followed me in their van. At the beginning everything was easy but after about half the distance we approached a longer part of soft sand. Speed is the key to get over sandy flats so I sped up. This way I passed about 50% of the soft area but that was it. I was stuck. The storm from Friday had blown too much sand onto the piste. This is the search, I said to myself and started digging away the sand with my hands. Jörg and Lenka had been clever and had been waiting at a safe part of the piste to see if I could pass the sand. Now they came for assistance. We collected some driftwood planks, put them in front of the wheels, Jörg and two other friendly surfers pushed and meter by meter my truck advanced. After half an hour I had made about 7m from the remaining 50m to the safe part of the piste in front of me. This didn´t help much, especially as we could see the nice waves at the beach just besides the piste. So I send Jörg – his surfing day was allready f%$*ed becaus he had to be back home this afternoon – to look for a tractor to pull me out. Another half hour later a friendly dane came with his machine and pulled me out of the sand. 200 Kronen was the price for this shortcut. When I reached the parking lot in town, I immediately got into my wetsuit and hit the water. Waves were clean and still very small but the longboard session was fun and washed away the dust.
