Morgat:

This nice little town at the southern end of the hammer like head of the peninsula sits very comfortable at a sheltered part of the bay of Douarnenez. It hosts a busy sport harbour where plenty of sailboats and a few remaining fishing boats wait to get on a trip either into the sheltered bay or the open Atlantic. The place is also good for starting a cayak tour into the bay or around the corner to the cliffs and caves.

In the harbour You´ll find the “Centre Nautique Crozon Morgat”, which offers sailing courses on boats or catamarans. There´s also a diving and a kitesurfing school.

At the capitainerie You can check the daily weather bulletin, take a shower, use the bathrooms and even wash your clothes in the lavanderie.

Add to that a couple of nice restaurants and bars, boulangeries (bakerys), supermarkets and hotels and this makes Morgat to a perfect base camp to explore the Presqu´ile de Crozon.

From all the restaurants and bars in town I strongly recommend the “La Flamée” for good and not too expensive (for France) Pizzas end Crépes. Just downstairs of the restaurant is the bar Le Kerguelen that frequently shows kite videos and has a very relaxed atmosphere.

In front of town is a nice beach to hang out. At high tide and with medium winds the bay is good for learning kitesurfers and windsurfers. Diving excursions and boat trips to the grottes (caves) around the corner start in the harbour.
