I spent the rest of the day at the reef, enjoying the relative warmth of the summer sun and being out at sea after that long drought. Back at the campground I had sort of dinner and then ventured out for a walk along the peninsula.

For the umpteen´ s time I was stunned by the abundance of bird life. No need to book a Puffin tour, they were hanging out right in the harbour. Same – and still kinda scary – thing with the Arctic Terns. When not performing beautiful flight stunts to catch fish, they were playing the grumpy local eager to attack anybody they found suspicious.

Saturday, August 5th.

It was flat again, but calm and mostly sunny and fairly warm. I decided to go for a bicycle tour into the volcanic inland parts of the peninsula. I had tried to find maps about this area showing the inland dirt tracks and paths but there was nothing and so I had to explore it on my own.
