Ice-EP12-47h

I followed the route from yesterday and east of the lookout hill from yesterday spotted some waves down at the bay. I managed to find a spot to stop and had a look, but it was very mushy and small, so I continued driving to the east end of the bay and from there along the east side of the fjord.

My next stop was at a little river mouth and I went for a check, but the pebble beach was too protected probably by the little peninsula further up which hosted the town of Hofsós. On a closer look I realized that this place had the wrong orientation anyhow and only would get some waves during a westerly swell. I nevertheless walked into town and down to the harbour.

A few fancy historic buildings were spread around the harbour, up on the cliff two ancient trucks were waiting to be restored since decades and a goat had occupied a rusty van. In between this a few ponies were roaming the meadow above the cliff and the background was built by mighty mountain ranges which still had some snow. A classic Iceland-style town. As I wasn´t interested in visiting the emigration museum or waiting for a boat excursion out to the bird island I returned to the van and headed further north. The coast road was now reaching the more exposed parts of the peninsula and things now should get more interesting, surf-wise.
