I now had the option to keep rounding the fjord but that would mean a long drive along the southern and eastern shores which were currently completely protected from the light northeast swell. Having tasted blood during the morning I was eager to paddle out again and my best options for this were back where I came from. So, I headed north again and reached the bay from this morning only to realize that the swell had dropped even more.
I needed more exposed parts of the coast and therefor continued north until I reached the Siglufjörður again. The east side of this small fjord is built by a mountain range sticking out at sea and a flat area at its northernmost tip. This small coastal plain dissolved into the Greenland Sea with a narrow little peninsula and obviously a few rock shelves. Waves were breaking there but I had no idea how to get there. The few houses sitting on the plain seemed only accessible by boat.
But there seemed to be some swell left and my next stop at the Saudanes lighthouse confirmed this impression. This time I could much more enjoy the drive along the windy north coast road due to the dry and sunny weather. I nevertheless was in a hurry as I wanted to get to the bay hoping for a second surf session with sunny skies.
