The road follows the dunes along the beach in close proximity here, but beach access was still difficult as there are just a few dirt tracks leading from the main road down to the beach and you needed a four-wheel drive to pass these. But further east close to the bridge passing the outlet of the lagoon I knew a restaurant sitting on top of the dunes with a parking and that´s where we drove.

From the parking it is just 50 meters down to the beach. But about 100 meters further out lays a string of rocks which create a very long sandbar and it is here, where the waves actually break. It was high tide now and to get to the outer sandbar we would have had to paddle. Getting back to the beach would mean to paddle against a now very strong offshore. We neither knew how deep the water was on the way out to the sandbar, nor if there were any serious currents, so after watching for a while we decided that it might be too dangerous to paddle out there.

We headed back south and made another stop at a short dead-end track close to the lagoon and from here walked along a sandy dirt track to the dunes bordering the beach. From the overview further north, we had calculated that this beach should be free from the protection of the outer sand bar / reef and so it was. It was a classic beach break with a few peaks close to shore but we weren´t convinced by the waves currently breaking. Somewhere else it might be better.
