Just in front of the high cliffs the road turned east and headed in direction of the Krysovikurberg mountain. Near the mountain and about half a kilometre before the road starts its last and very steep ascent to a parking close to the top of the hill, I had to pass a small ford but stopped and parked the van at one of the small parking lots in front of the river.
The last ascent to the mountain parking was really very steep and the gravel road in bad condition and I didn´t want to harry my van up this ascent. It was very fine weather anyhow, windless and sunny and warm – a t-shirt was sufficient – and I was ready for a little walk.
I plodded along the dirt road in the heat (!) until the steep last ascent began. I wasn´t too keen for the sweaty exercise of the last steep climb on the dusty road up to the hill. The main attraction here are the cliffs anyhow and these are better watched from below. So, I walked the small distance from the dirt road to the cliff edge.
From here I had a nice view on the vertical lava walls and the calm sea. The cliffs were densely populated by breeding birds of different species and in the air, there was plenty of flight traffic. I sat there for a while, watching the goings-on and generally enjoying the warm sunny day.
