Here there was a lot of white-water at the inside too, but the pier has just a third of the height of the one at the “holy rock” and the jump is much more comfortable and for chickens like me there is even a platform just above sea level with a staircase leading down to it. With a bit of timing you can slip into the sea and paddle out to the lineup in front of the bridge end with dry hair.
The left was running very well too, covering quite a distance and with some juice at the inside. The outside peak needed larger sets and started slow but when it connected to the inside you could score astonishingly long rides. Sometimes there was a right breaking too, starting at the peak further inside und running straight to the pier. These waves were shorter but had plenty of speed. All in all, it was a fun beachbreak setup with warm water, sunshine and no wind.
No wonder it was very crowded out in the lineup and on the pier. “Bella Figura” was a major concern in and out of the sea. Good to watch but usually nothing for me as I prefer more solitude for my surf sessions. But, mainly because of the beforementioned easy lineup access, I decided to paddle out here nevertheless instead of returning to the far less crowded but more difficult to handle waves at the pier further south. I reached the lineup with dry hair and positioned myself at the less frequented outer peak in front of the bridge end but after a while found out that the waves here needed bigger boards – I was out with my small semi-fish – and therefore moved further in and joined the pack at the inside sandbar.
