Shifting peaks and the crowds made it a bit difficult but it was a fun session. Waves still didnīt back off for another two hours but so did my paddle fitness. I decided it was time for a break and some more nutrition. Again, I found one of the bars that stay open all year not too far from the pier and went for a second breakfast. Again, it was Cappuccino and Brioches out in the sun in front of the bar, this time accompanied by Frank Sinatra tunes from the barīs sound system. The skin of my face was slightly burning from the sun and the salt and life felt good.

Re-energized I was ready for more. But this time I wanted less people around me in the lineup, so I returned to the larger pier. Waves were a bit smaller now and the wind had turned to a light onshore but it still looked nice for a bit of longboarding and nobody else was out. I paddled out on my longboard and had a few waves for myself.

After a while the wind died but waves were diminishing too, so I finished my session. As there was still some daylight left I drove over to the pier in Viareggio to have a coffee at the bar on the head of the pier. It turned out that the bar was closed but there were still running some surf-able waves on the almost glassy sea and there were still some surfers out.
