In a quick succession one guy broke a mast joint – again, it is more than overdue that they develop joints that REALLY last – and another (Christian) broke a mast. But this spot demands a “go for it” attitude and the before mentioned second section is “make it or take it”.
For some time the wind got even too strong for the 4.0 sails and guys were approaching the peak of the waves with sails kept completely open before they reached the area with less wind at the peak, sheeted in and raced down the line, sometimes with too much speed which made the ride too quick for the wave to follow.
But this extra speed often was needed to reach the second section properly and it helped to get air.
At the outside massive swell was passing the peninsula, dwarfing the windsurfers who sailed far out to gain height or to relax a little bit.
The few remaining surfers here either stuck to the left or worked the point which had a little bit of shelter from the wind.
