Another cold morning, another breakfast in that bar in Mandriola. A light south-easterly wind was blowing and so my first way of the day led me to the west-facing part of the peninsula. Set waves were slightly overhead but the offshore did not manage to smoothen the waves as expected. It stayed rough. And cold.
I waited for a while to see how things would develop but it neither cleaned up nor backed down on wave size. I was in need of some easy surf, so I left and headed further up the coast to check another bay that had caught my attention a couple of days ago. There´s a shallow reef with a very interesting form in that bay and the light south-east wind should be helpful too.
When I arrived at the bay it looked ok at the first glance but once I found a place to park the van and went for closer inspection it turned out less convincing. I could – again – spot the potential of the reef. But waves were unruly to mushy, not hitting the reef in a proper way. One guy was out, and I watched him for a while to get a better impression. He didn´t catch any proper wave.
