When I arrived there the wind was a slight offshore and chest-high waves were breaking at the main reef at Mini Capo. There were longer lulls but nobody was out, and I wasted no time to take advantage of this rare event.
It was the perfect setup for me to get more intimate with the mechanics of the break. Nobody else out meant I didn´t have to bother with carefully avoiding dropping into some local. Longer lulls in between sets gave me time to recompose after messed up take-offs – I had a few, as the wave is fast even at this small size – with the smaller board and paddle back out without overstraining my worn-out back. And I had fun waves.
That made my day and after the session I decided to go for an early evening walk to have a look at the main cape. The wind had dropped, and the sky was doing funny things and the sun was giving the spot an interesting lighting. Set waves had some good size and three guys were out having a blast in the clean conditions.
