I walked to the point building the northern end of the bay. The sea was wild here too, but some heavy clouds approaching made me hope that the wind would finally turn and manage to put some order into the chaos at least within the bay. But soon I realized that the turning of the wind was happening too slow and all I got from it was a short but intense rain shower and some stunning lighting of the already stunning scenery.
The sun was disappearing way too soon – short days are the price to pay to get decent waves in this part of the world – and the possible combination of this winter swell meeting local offshore winds would go unnoticed during the dark. I didn´t really like the prospect of spending the following long evening in the cold and damp van and drove to Ajaccio.
I parked outside the town centre and walked along the beach promenade into the old town to visit one of the pizzerias there. To my surprise the town centre was pretty busy with people and the reason was a large Christmas fare on the main plaza. I had a stroll through the bustling market and was tempted to buy some food at one of the many stands there but then decided to have some real dinner and went into one of the restaurants within the narrow alleys of the historic town centre.
