From up on the pass it looked like it was worth the detour. But down at the beach it turned out that there was a little bit too much wind and too much swell for the inside of the bay which resulted into too much water moving and the waves were not worth the effort of battling with the currents and the shifting lineup.
So, I drove back over the pass again and down to the point, parked the van, got into my wetsuit, and paddled out. It was still overcast, with a grey sky but without rain, albeit very cool. The swell had slightly dropped, and the wind was a very light onshore, but the uninviting general surrounding was more than compensated by the waves.
The south-westerly swell still had to pass the offshore islands where it got bent a little bit, but it had enough energy to send some nice and well-organized sets to the point, where they got transformed into long running fun rights. The speedy take-off was a little bit tricky on the longboard, but once I knew how to position, I was rewarded by some nice rides, quick at the beginning and cruisy on the inside.
