It was a classic “locals only” wave, demanding intimate knowledge of the exact situation of the rocks and how waves were breaking, and which wave would break at all, which by itself was a almost impossible task as lining up waves often vanished into nothing and tiny ripples sometimes turned into heavy suckers within a second. Surely a fun break with some thrill factor if you knew how it works and were young and flexible and reckless enough.

I enjoyed the show until my hunger topped the novelty excitement and I drove to Ajaccio and went into my trusty bar near the harbour to have a coffee and some croissants. Once my sugar level was high enough again, I left and realized that the wind had picked up and turned onshore again. Time to drive across the pass again and check if the other bay now was properly working.

Up on the summit it looked as if it was worth making the remaining few kilometres along the winding and bumpy road down to the beach. Down there I found out that the conditions were finally aligning for the beach break to work properly. The wind was side-offshore, and the swell had exactly the size needed to create some proper peaks, just avoiding the shore break chaos that plagues this beach with bigger swells.
