I drove to the expressway and found it completely empty on my way to the harbour. So, no rush hour traffic either, preventing me from reaching the ferry in time. Good. At the harbour I parked my van and used the spare time I now had for a stroll through the town centre and a breakfast in a bar. I had time for a bit of sightseeing in the town centre and discovered two very nice churches, looking not very remarkable from the outside, but exquisitely decorated in the inside.

Around noon I was back at the harbour and entered the ferry, which departed in the early afternoon. A strong south-westerly wind was blowing when we left the island and steadily increased during the passage. When we approached Livorno, we had to wait an hour in front of the coast due to too strong winds until a longer lull allowed us to enter the harbour.

It was already dark when I drove on the motorway to head north. The strong winds were due to last another day and would create some solid south-west swell. The forecast promised northerly winds and a 2.5-meter swell. My plan was to delay my return home a little bit and spend two days at the Ligurian coast.
