The closer I came to the Cap Bénat peninsula the more I lost hope finding a wave sheltered from the wind. Just outside the town centre of Le Lavandou I parked the van and walked along the coast to get an overview. As expected, it was a howling onshore messing up everything the wind swell would otherwise have delivered.
I had to call it a day at least concerning being active out at sea myself. Despite the thrilling wave-sailing conditions I witnessed today, it only worsened my already complicated relationship with this area, which despite a coastline with plenty of potential most of the times has nothing on offer wave-wise for surfers or windsurfers. And at the day the bay of Saint Tropez was finally switching on I didn´t have the equipment to take advantage of the storm.
As it was getting dark soon it made no sense to try something somewhere else and I headed back to the house.
