Sunday, January 7th the wind had become a storm. The otherwise ever-calm bay of Saint Tropez was battered by 35 plus knot winds and an accompanying solid wind swell. The wind was side to side-onshore and together with some nice liquid ramps allowed some nice jumps with the windsurf board. Needless to say, that kite surfers were flying around too.
Some of the best launching ramps could be found further out to the middle of the bay while the reefs closer to shore were more suited to wave riding. The wind direction wasn´t perfect for down the line sailing but with good technique and timing some proper slashing was nevertheless possible.
Obviously, every wind addict within a 400 kilometres vicinity knew what it takes to awake the bay and the sea was quite busy with windsurfers and kite boarders. Like everywhere in this area parking space is very sparse, especially at the coast. And not surprisingly, the small parking lot at the beach had a height restriction bar. So, the first challenge was to find a place to park and then get your gear down to the beach without having to carry it for several hundreds of meters.
