The cape and its offshore reef were a brilliant setup. I only could imagine what magic it might do with a bigger and cleaner swell. But its real value lay in its ability to turn average swells into real quality waves, something very valuable to local surfers. Judging from its position I guessed that south swells would be the ones needed for the extraordinary days.
These south swells are rare and usually come with heavy rain -and strong onshore winds and this is probably the reason for the myth that this waves only breaks once or twice a year. I knew better now and the only downside was, that I would probably never find this wave with less then 20 people in the lineup. I nevertheless put it on my watch list.
The icing on that pointbreak-cake was a stunning sunset, which painted the scenery in intense orange and pink. The Med was delivering a very impressive show on my last day at its shores, almost as she wanted to convince me to stay.
