So, I was prepared for another disappointment, but this time got the sort of surprise I like better. There were actually waves breaking here, the bigger ones with some decent size and energy.
The wind wasn´t perfect, blowing a light sideshore, and as so often at the tide-less Med, the sandbars weren´t really prepared to handle a decent sized swell. Paddling out would have been a mission by itself, but the short catwalk in front of the beach bars designed to provide a boat landing during summer made things much easier, provided you timed your walk to the lineup properly. If you manged to avoid getting wiped from the bridge by a bigger set, you only had to make a little run to jump from the bridge head and paddle a few meters to the lineup.
Peaks were a little bit shifting, but the take-off was always close to the bridge which added some extra thrill. The waves were mostly semi-closeouts, always sucky and a bit unpredictable in the way they broke. Not exactly what I wanted with my longboard. So, I wandered a bit along the beach to check other peaks and this way spotted something interesting at the end of the beach. It was the area of the bay I had expected the least to happen with this swell direction, but at least from far it looked worth driving over there to have a look.
