Wednesday, December 30th it was sunny again. I was forced to drive to Toulon to get some stuff from IKEA. But the deal was, that afterwards I could drive to the west-facing coast and try to take advantage of the Mistral winds now blowing here. Unsure if to go windsurfing or surfing I choose the beach south of Saint-Cyr. There I found out that it wouldn´t be surfing today but it looked worth to rig up the windsurfing stuff.
The wind was blowing with about 20 to 25 knots in the gusts but was very much on and off. This made it a very strenuous sailing-session, but the perfect side-shore wind direction and a bit of wind swell rewarded me with a bit of nice wave-sailing.
New years eve it was calm and mostly clouds. We visited Grimaud in the morning and otherwise stayed at the house. As his was a little bit too little exercise for me, I went for a walk up the hills behind out house in the late afternoon. There is an old chapel up there and some fancy rocks at the top of the hill which provide a beautiful view on the bay of Saint Tropez, so its always nice to get up there. On the descend it was already dark and in the twilight, I stumbled upon a group of boar.
