But first we had to drive down there, and the journey started with a two-hours traffic jam delay close to Bremen due to a barred autobahn because of a truck crash. Luckily this was the only obstacle on our way down south and in the evening of the following day we reached our destination. Christmas eve was sunny and relatively warm and – of course – calm and we spent the day with a visit to the beach and later to Saint Tropez. Friday it was warm and windy, but Mistral which is of no sailable use in this area.
Saturday it was sunny and warm again, but now with a small wind swell from the east and I went for a surf while the girls used the fine weather for a bicycle ride along the coast. I had a few rides on the longboard in tiny waves, but at least I could call it a surf session and it was pleasantly warm, and I had learned to value the small things in this area anyhow. Sunday there was no sun, and the sea was its usual flat again, but something was brewing up at the Med.
