10 minutes of checking the conditions here were enough and I returned to the van, ready to immediately change the location. Back at the van I realized that I had spend the night parking just besides the van of a friend and she had just woken up. I couldn´t just leave now and had a chat and a coffee with her but became increasingly nervous as I really wanted to move over to Bunkers.
My urgency probably was on the brink of rudeness, but the combination of a forecast like this and several months of surf drought may serve as excuse. I convinced here to her to move north too, and we reached the Bunkers parking soon after.
It was really warm now, probably almost 30 C now and a light south-easterly wind was blowing. A quick check from the dunes showed that the waves on the reef were not fully matching my expectations but good enough to waste no more time. Choosing the amount of neoprene to dress in was a bit difficult due to the hot air temperatures and me having no clue about the current water temps. Once in the sea 5mm plus booties turned out to be too much.
