It wasn´t the biggest swell but with swell periods far up in the teens and that swell travelled the North Atlantic in very high latitudes. So, chances were very good for that swell to pass the northern tip of Scotland with enough energy to send a decent ground swell even into the central parts of the North Sea. And indeed, the forecasts for the Danish North Sea coast had rarely seen numbers of 1m @ 16 seconds periods. The forecast for the local winds was promising a light to medium strong offshore.
Naturally this was about to happen mid-week, but this looked too good to stay at the office. So, I cancelled a few business appointments and left the office Tuesday afternoon and with a chance to have one or two hours of daylight left once I would reach the Sea. The local westerly wind was about to die and slowly turn east in the late afternoon which also was the time when the first pulses of Larry’s long period swell were forecasted to reach the coast.
