Most of my expeditions back then were a success, but sure enough there were some failures too. I learned from both and with way more accurate forecasts nowadays there are no more ghost swells. This means that lineups at least at the more popular breaks aren´t empty anymore and the days of solo sessions in exceptional surf are over, but it also means less wasted driving hours and CO2 emissions. And my strategy to reduce my surfing carbon footprint is to travel less and stay longer or only go for the exceptional days preferably during workdays.
Now, the forecast for Monday and Tuesday was one of these seemingly worth to go. A 0.6m @ 16 to 17 seconds northwest swell was forecasted for the whole Monday, and Tuesday looked even better. Winds were predicted light southeast for Monday and south for Tuesday. In summary: a must-not-miss two days swell event.
