The extremely high swell period left me a bit hesitant as from recent experiences I knew that this could mean very long lulls. Sunday evening, I checked my reference stations to make my decision. Munkegrund had a bit too much south in the swell direction and the predicted swell height was only around 4 meters.
But the swell period was very high. I blamed the slightly too southerly swell direction on the fact, that two back-to-back storms where active in the North Atlantic and windfinder´s habit to over-value local windswells. According to the North Atlantic wind charts there must have been a more westerly pulse running too. My other reference station at the Viking B Platform was showing better numbers. In fact, the numbers were very good and so I made the decision to go.
Monday morning, I got up at 5, hit the motorway long before the commuter traffic kicked in and reached the northern jetty in Thy shortly before noon. The sky was the typical November grey, and it was very cool, but the wind was a light side-offshore.
