| In terms of travelling, we clearly recommend to drive to Cornwall by car. Crossing the channel from Calais to Dover by ferry only takes about 1,5 hours and costs around 140 € for a camper van and 1 adult. Pets are welcome, but have to stay in the car for the duration of the cruise. Taking the Euro Tunnel is faster, yet more expensive. Arriving in England, it takes about 6 hours to your final destination St. Ives Bay, mainly on well developed roads. Only around London you should plan for delays due to the usual traffic jams. As an alternative, there is a ferry from Hoek van Holland on the Dutch cost to Harwich in the UK. Cruising time is about 7 hours and prices are around 280 to 380 € for a camper van, but you have the comfort of sleeping in a cabin overnight, before taking a relaxed start into your holidays the next day.
Of course, flying in to Cornwall is also an option. The next airport is located in Newquai. From there, it takes only about an hour to St. Ives Bay. But, at least from Germany, the number of direct flights is not especially large, and usually you would have to change flights and often also change airlines on one of the major London airports. Taking surfing and windsurfing gear with you would probably be a special mission.
