You can easily organize your trip to Sal yourself and book flight and accommodation on your own. As described above, if you plan to bring along your own gear, we recommend choosing Tuifly as your carrier. They offer connections from all major German airports for instance. Easier and more comfortable is to book the trip with one of the established windsurfing travel agencies, like Surf & Action company (www.surf-action.com). They offer all the best hotels and apartments, rental gear, as well as flight and transfer services. We would always recommend to rent an apartment and cater for yourself, or book a hotel with breakfast only, in order to be able to discover the variety of nice restaurants in and around Santa Maria.
There are numerous windsurfing centers in Santa Maria. In Ponta Leme, on the main spot, you will find Pezi Huber, Angulo, ION and a JP center. A bit further to the west, towards Ponta Sino, just behind the ancient harbor, there is another ION center located right on the beach. The center is pretty nice and comfortable, but the conditions on the water cannot match with Ponta Leme.
Kite boarders will find their personal paradise on the Kite Beach, just outside Santa Maria to the northeast. The local hero and kite boarding legend Mitu runs a decent size kite surfing center here, and also offers a nice bar. This place attracts most kite boarders like a magnet.
