Lafitenia was as beautiful as it gets. A light south-easterly wind was blowing, the sun was shining and temperatures were in the middle twenties.
The low frequency swell was slowly but steadily increasing in size and testing the point´s capabilities of holding larger sized waves. The point succeeded once again and transformed the swell into perfectly peeling long right-handers.
It was a Friday but obviously everybody had started the weekend early. The lineup was packed. There was a solid crew sitting at the outside peak and there was a long queue stretching diagonally through the bay eager to take the leftovers and waiting hungrily for someone falling early on a set wave.
With the rising tide the perfection diminished and the wind turned more side-shore. But the swell was also rising and compensated unfavorable tides and wind with sheer size. Surfers left and surfers arrived and the crowd never really shrunk.
A little after noon I decided to take my bicycle and go for a ride further north.
