I hastily pedaled back but eased the pace when I had the first view on the breaks for the cycling path. The swell was still there. And, oh boy, how it was there! Waves had picked up a notch in size and the wind cooperated too. This had attracted even more chargers and it became a bit busy on some waves. Very few waves passed the reefs unridden. Some waves had a very limited number of admirers dedicated enough for throwing themselves over the ledge.
Especially Parlementia had a lot of traffic and almost every wave was shared. Even Avalanches bombs regularly had more than one guy dropping in. But then, this was (almost) big wave surfing and these guys are used to share.
In the late afternoon a sea mist obscured the action for about an hour but didn´t stop it. Some guys had been out for several hours now and still paddled into bombs while a now pretty large crowd of spectators gathered at the beach promenades and enjoyed the show.
So did I (enjoy the show). The mist was clearing in the late afternoon and gave clear view on a still pumping swell that perfectly fitted the local breaks. The warm late afternoon light added even more beauty to an already brilliant scenery.
