Monotony-09h

Thursday the waves were even a bit bigger but the wind was a medium side-onshore. It was crowded as hell but you have to take what you get so I paddled out for a session before we left the island in the evening for a short visit on the neighbouring Ile de Oleron. The south-west facing beaches here work on all tides so I managed to squeeze in a session in clean hip-high waves Friday morning before the wind turned onshore and it started to rain. We had to move on anyhow as for the following week we had rented a house at Sainte Barbe in southern Brittany.

Friday noon we checked into our house. It was sunny and windy and there was a two-meter swell so I went for a windsurfing session in Kerhilio. It was dead onshore and clearly preferring kite-surfers and very strenuous to sail but I was happy to have work-out windsurfing session in warm water. In the early evening I left to drive to Normandy to pick up my daughter and a friend who would spend the week with us in Brittany.

Saturday we had to deal with more French holiday traffic jams but made it back to Sainte Barbe in the late afternoon and had still some time to spend at the beach.

Monday morning, I started a routine that would continue the whole week. I got up at seven, had a coffee and drove the about 500 meters from our house to the beach. The wind was a very light side-shore and waves of about a meter were rolling in. They had not much power, but the sandbars were in good form and I had a fun longboard session before I returned to the house at about 10. The girls had just woken up and we all had breakfast together. In the afternoon we went to the beach and there was still a meter breaking with very light winds and I had another fun longboard session.
