Thursday, May 1st

The day began rainy. The wind was still coming from the southwest but was supposed to turn west / west-northwest in the afternoon.

We went to Carnac for breakfast and later had a look at the beach. It was mid-tide, rising. I spotted a lone windsurfer on the gulf, cruising in the - at this area - side-offshore wind.  My plan for the day was to go wave-sailing in the late afternoon, when the wind would have turned around enough according to the forecast, so I didn´t pay too much attention to the flat-water conditions here.

But then I spotted a group of windsurfers racing behind the headland further north and decided to have a look. The other bay offered a nice panorama and a growing group of windsurfers and kite-boarders was out in the picturesque Gulf of Morbihan. Meanwhile the sun had come out. My muscles were still a bit sore from the previous 4 days of wave-sailing and surfing, so I pondered going out for a recreational flat-water sail.

The parking at the beach was a bit protected from the wind and the sun gave warmth, so I could convince my little family to stay here for a while. I geared up my 5.8 sail and took the larger volume wave / freestyle board. 5.3 wetsuit, no booties.
