Quicker and in most cases cheaper is taking a plane. Agadir, Marrakech or Casablanca can be reached from most European airports within about 4 hours of flight time. Add to this between 2 to 4 hours for the transfer to Essaouira. From Paris you even can reach Essaouira directly. Like always taking your own windsurfing equipment on a flight is a bit difficult and / or expensive. We made our best experiences with experiences with Tuifly.

Wind and waves:

The windy season runs from April until der End of August with January to March still offering a good dose of breezes. Not surprisingly the west waves come during the winter months, which makes spring the best combination for wave- sailing. If you don´t mind a good surf add a surfboard to your luggage and come in February. Chances to score big time with and without sail are quite big. Outside the summer season you won´t have to deal with larger crowds whereas in July and August the concurrence for the few waves will be big.

Spots:

There is more or less just three accessible windsurf spots in the area of Essaouira (listed from south to north):

Sidi Kaouki: Situated about 20 km south of Essaouira. Large sand beach with moderate Waves, breaking on sandbars. Hefty shore break during bigger swells. Good for wave-sailing beginners during summer. For more info check the spot guide.
