We recommend the Fanatic / North station “Magic Fun Africa” from Bruno Erbani at Moulay. Bruno es eager to help with travel planning and organising rental cars and himself offers simple but good accommodation right at the spot and helping out with local advice. Culture and people:
Sure there is a broad touristic palette from camel riding to quad driving in Essaouira. But we found it way more attractive to visit the medina (old town) of Essaouira and soak in the atmosphere of the city. Essaouira is a really beautiful town and mostly clean and properly developed. The people were relaxed and very helpful and even on the bazars do net get too intrusive. It helps a lot speaking a little bit of French which enables you to communicate with almost everybody. English also works but not always. In Essaouira you have a large choice of cafes and restaurants with a broad selection and fair prices in combination with good quality.
In Moulay you have a few possibilities to eat at night and a small shop with a very basic offer of drinks and food. Taking a walk outside the little town along the beach or checking out the reef at low tides is worth the effort.
