Back there the first thing I realized was the van of a buddy and therefor it was clear that some waves were on offer. At least I hoped so. The first check showed very small waves that looked just surf-able at the wooden groins. Down at the harbour entrance three guys were out and had some little rides.
But these rides were very little so they paddled back up to the groins soon. There they had more fun. Not to get misunderstood: it was just surf-able and large planks were needed. But just surf-able here means that you can ride a wave for more than ten meters and walk around on the board a bit. And this is more than you get at this part of the Baltic Sea during most of the time.
Now a few more privy surfers trickled in but it never got anything near to crowded. Most people knew each other and had a chilled little surf.
In the late afternoon the wind dropped a bit while there were still waves coming to shore – which is a bit unusual here – and the light became that unique warm afternoon shine that you only get at a late summer afternoon at the sea.
