Talking about nice people: two other surfers had checked in. Both had done a bit of driving to catch this swell, with one guy coming all the way from Brighton and the other one from the place in the UK, that is farthest from every ocean. Both very nice lads.
Later on, I went to a restaurant (Italian…) that is situated just 5 minutes (walking) away. Then I went to bed early, eager to surf the next day. The forecast was still brilliant- or even better than the wild one for today – with north swell of still 3 meters @ 11 seconds, medium north to north-westerly winds and – believe it or not – the sun shining the whole day!
Saturday 14th.
I woke up after a bad night. Head felt dizzy, nose was blocked, coughs shook me frequently. Looks like I had caught a serious cold. Not good. It was still very cold but the sun was shining – as promised by the forecast – and the wind seemed to blow out of the right direction. Looked very much like a good day to surf. But I felt pretty weak. So, I went for a walk to get some breakfast and check if there were some decent waves at South Bay.
