The day started sunny, and the wind was side shore as predicted. Just the wind speed wasn´t the forecasted 20 to 22 knots and lacked some quite important 4 to 5 knots. So, for a long time it was just kite-surfers and – in the sheltered bay in between the jetties – wing foil surfers who had some fun. The swell was coming from the north and had some juice and when the tide started to bring some form to the breaking waves, I decided to give it a try.
I choose my more voluminous old Lorch Silver Bird light wind wave board and the 5.0 sail. The plan was to get through the inside light wind area and grab some rides at the outside sandbars. Knowing the currents and the little channels helped and at the outside the wind was a bit stronger and just enough to stay planning. This helped to withstand the strong southbound outside current and stay far enough upwind to catch the waves at the peak.
