Late in the afternoon the wind finally kicked in and blew with some solid 25 plus knots. Waves kept breaking in chaotic ways which was a real pity as the combination of strong side shore winds and solid north swell did not lead to the desired down the line wave sailing conditions. It was good for jumping though and Graham Ezzy, who had come down from the event in Klitmoller for the occasion showed everybody how to get some air.
It was a wild mix of windsurfers and kite surfers now, battling it out in the cooking North Sea. Close to the jetty one break produced halfway organized breaking waves that occasionally allowed more then one turn (two, to be precise). Further down the beach it had uncountable ramps that provided bumpy rides on the way out.
In the evening the rain returned, and some heavy gusts and rain squalls combined to classic North Sea Armageddon windsurfing – and kite-surfing – conditions. You really gotta love this semi-masochistic survival sailing to be able to enjoy it.
