Some sun rays in the morning, combining with some hefty rain squalls. Strong north-northwest winds, soon dropping and turning north-northeast, which is side-off. Might have been good for a surf session if the sandbars would cooperate. They didn´t. The afternoon started with relentless rain but then got sunny. With the sun the wind stabilized at 20 knots with a perfect side-shore direction. I decided to give it a try with my large wave board and a 5.0 sail.
It became a fun session with some decent wave-sailing with the only downside the board being a bit too voluminous for fully engaged bottom turns and cutbacks. So, after a while I decided to change to my small wave board. The board was just ok to get through the light wind inside and to stay upwind in the strong south current at the outside. But on the waves – which still did not break perfectly but had a good size of up to two meters – it was the perfect size.
