Frustration was growing despite the beauty of the area that I was scrutinizing. So I decided to give up the search and drive over to the Kattegat. As mentioned before the wind was supposed to pick up and turn a notch in the afternoon and I knew a part of the coast good enough for not wasting too much time with checking spots. The drive over to the other sea would take me almost two hours but I would be there early enough for a decent session.
When I finally reached the peninsula I had a quick stop at the most sheltered of the three points I knew in the area for a first check. It was flat. But there was still hope and so I drove to that utterly popular left further down. It was empty and flat too. I couldn´t believe it. Out on the open sea I could spot swell moving but obviously its direction was too offshore to reach this part of the coast. I had one more option in the area and so I walked down to the other point.
There it was flat too but not flat enough to give up every hope. There still was a chance of the wind turning a bit more westerly (as forecasted) and it doesn´t take long for the waves coming from this new direction to arrive at these shores.
And indeed, after a while the first “just surf-able” set arrived. But it stayed the only one. I waited about another half hour but nothing similar happened. So I gave up and drove to the tiny harbour where I would spend the night.
