So I kept an eye on the forecasts for the whole spring and summer without finding a weather pattern that fit to my needs and time schedule. But at the end of September things seemed finally coming together. Air and water temperatures were still pretty comfortable and a first autumn storm pooped up on the forecasts. The winds should have the necessary force and direction in the right areas and they were forecasted to last for at least three days. And I had a chance to leave work for three days.
So I decided to give it a go and entered the motorway Tuesday evening. According to the forecast there could be some decent waves on offer at that peninsula in the Kattegat, that I had visited before. But the wind direction was on the edge of blowing too offshore.
This could mean epic conditions when the swell would make it around the peninsula. It could also mean flatness. But chances were pretty high it would have some waves. On the other hand, the forecasted wind direction meant that there would be definitely swell at the Baltic Sea. This was a scenario that I had not tried out before.
So I drove until I passed the last bridge and pulled into the first parking lot behind it to spend the night. This was just a few kilometres before the point where I would have to make a decision on which coast I would go. It was already half past one in the morning and I was very ready for a sleep. I would check the forecast again after waking up in a few hours and then make a decision which way to go
