I made myself a coffee and enjoyed it while watching the lines rolling into the bay. Great cinema despite the hard rain and the dull colours. But the impressive lines stayed sort of a hoax as 9 out of 10 waves were peaking but didn´t break until they broke close out very close to the cliffs.
I moved over to the sandy acre. The rain had backed off a bit and I went for a walk to check some peaks further down the dunes. Before I even reached the end of the path at the dunes edge the rain returned and it returned in a massive way. In no time I was soaking wet. The surf check was not very successful either as again good looking swell lines transformed into barely surf-able semi-closeouts.
The wind was still o.k. though and it looked like there were more sets transforming into something desirable. It looked like the dropping tide would be low enough soon. It was obvious that I should go out no or never (at least for this day).
I hurried back to the van and was just starting to get my stuff ready, when heavy clouds approached out at sea. They had this typical white curtain and the sea underneath was covered with white dots. A rain squall was approaching and for the first time of the day it approached from the sea. The wind had turned onshore. Just when the tide started to become right, the onshore kicked in. I was NOT pleased.
