Those really big sets were coming less frequently now but the “leftover” waves still made nobody complain. Rides became less “Hail Mary” and more playful now. Stylish roundhouses could be included into the rides now, plus the odd walk to the nose. Some chose to stick with a long and speedy glide.
You never could completely relax though, as there still was the odd set intent on cleaning up the growing crowd in the lineup. Patient positioning helped avoid pounding and grabbing those long running smooth rights. A couple of after-workers had arrived now and hastily paddled out to participate at the feast. The North Sea soon greeted them with another serious set obviously to remind them about what they had missed.
The wicked forecast numbers had become real and the North Atlantic had shown how much energy it can create and thus enabling the North Sea to an show all time performance. Probably the swell off the decade, definitely a swell for the books. I was more than happy having been able to witness this.
