Suicidios:
Somewhere along the infamous north shore track thereīs a lava field with a little cobblestone beach. Here breaks the apptly named wave. To be correct, there break a couple of waves over more or less gnarly lava reefs.
The main break is a really suicidal right with two sections. The first section as seen obove is allmost unmakeable and offers some really close rocks that You only can avoid by hiding in the tube. The second section is more makable and the rock in front of it is a bit more far away. The wave has a strong tendence to tube and really is recommended for experts with a lot of local knowledge only. If You can handle it, You might score the tube of Your life.
At the inside left of the entrance breaks a short left very close to shore. It is much easyer to handle than the main break which still means that it is a very heavy wave (see small pic up right).
At the south end of the bay there is an outside reef which comes alive on solid swells. I donīt know if itīs been ever surfed but with a jet ski one might be able to ride it both left and right. Very massiv wave!
North of Suicidios is another perfect shaped reef which has lefts and right (which sometimes connect to the main break). Again, a jet ski would be good idea to ride it.
To make it clear, all waves here are very serious, if not to say gnarly, as this area is orientated northwest and gets the full rage of swells that traveled a very long way through the north atlantic and the sharp lava reefs are allways hungry for some tasty surfers flesh. Wearing a helmet might prevent the worst.
The place is surfed by a handfull of locals whoīs surfing level is very very hight. So if You stumble over that wave when itīs on, just sit and watch. And if You are really good enough - question Youself about that twice - take Your time, watch, talk to the locals and when You finaly go out: pray!
Sorry, no windsurfing or kiteboarding here. Boogieboarders do allright here.
