Pisserrena

The iconic wave of the area. Righthand point break along – and very close to – a boulder shoreline. Access via a minefield of boulders with some grassy patches in between, particularly tricky to pass with windsurf equipment. Wave sailors need to take the narrow channel to the left to go out. Beware of submerged slippery rocks within the channel. Beware even more of the massive harbour wall just leeward of the channel, which has a luv area with no wind. Walk – and slip – through the waist- to chest-deep channel to its end, time the incoming sets carefully and sail out while absolutely avoiding drifting downwind.

Access for kite surfers is a little bit easier as long as they have absolute kite control for the starting process on the beforementioned boulder-grass area. Generally speaking, the break is for expert windsurfers and kite-surfers only. And even these have to take into consideration some solid beating when caught in between a breaking wave and the very close boulder shore. With waves breaking bigger than 2 meters the break gets dangerous. Thingd are a bit easier for surfers as long as they know how to duck-dive. When conditions align, nice rights are on offer for all the beforementioned wave-riders.

Check the galleries for more impressions (from sessions in 2010 and May 2022).
