Tuesday, Feb. 25th. Jörg and Claudia’s holiday was finished and they left for the flight back home. No wind this day so rest of the crew went for sightseeing while I stayed at the beach to work on my surfing skills. On the march back to the apartment a local gave me some fish. He was a bit drunk and was talking crazy stuff but we had a nice talk anyhow. In the afternoon we got an additional apartment, something I really appreciated. We also managed to repair the hydraulic steering of our car. Successful day, all in all.
Wednesday was a windless surfing day again and I paddled out at Jobos for several surf sessions. To be precise: as I still was an absolute beginner these surf sessions mainly consisted of paddling out, learning to duckdive, trying to catch waves and get over the falls numerous times. But it was fun.
Thursday, Feb. 28th. We stood up early in the morning for an extended sightseeing trip through the centre of the island. We passed the towns of San Sebastian and Lares, got lost and came to Lares again after a large circle, then found the “Routa Panoramica” leading through the rain forest, made it to Sabana Grande, visited the Maricao forest and drove back via San Sebastian to Jobos. Nice little towns, lots of narrow winding roads within a hilly, often jungle like landscape. Lots of driving but very nice.
Friday, March 1st the wind was back together with waves around 2 meters and we all wnet windsurfing at Playa Jobos. Fun day but Christian managed to broke his board again. Says quite a bit about the power of even the smaller swells at Puerto Rico´s north shore.
