Planet Northsound, the bitter End...
Some of them nevertheless managed to motivate themselves for a early morning ride in the dinghy to the Anegada reef. They were rewarded with a surf session that even made the picky pros enthusiastic before the fleet sailed back to the North Sound. Literally to the bitter end or the Bitter End Yacht Club, where organizers had set up obstacles on the reef right in front of Saba Rock. Because of the lack of wind they changed to a wakeboard session in front of a dream like scenery. Others went exploring the reefs in the area above and underneath sea level.
At least at the party at the Bitter End Yacht Club everybody realized that the idea of the BVI – Kitejam was a full success, even seasoned kiteboarders got shining eyes when recapitulating the past days. And the event wasn´t even finished.
Because also on the last day the wind woke up the riders early despite not everybody having found his way back to the boats last night. Eustatia Island just in front of Necker Island was the spot of the day that was to discover. But in the end the wind didn´t cooperate as planned. Also the plans for the lunch location had to be changed. Originally lunch should be served on Sandy Strip, an artificial island that would please every Robinson, at least if he had such a good catering. But the sandy strip had been vanished at night but this still had a good side. The swell had arrived during the night and the boats spread to find their private breaks. We scored at Moskito Island, perfect, head high, glassy, only us. No wonder that lunch had to wait. We finally had it on Eustatia, an alternative that we really could deal with. Even more as we could use the afternoon for more surfing and some bitter needed relaxing to prepare for the final party of the event. The party took place at Moskito Island, a more than worthy final for a remarkable event. We won´t tell more about it to protect the participants….
