Morocco is great! It was my first time and I’m sure I will be back soon to score some bigger waves witch Morocco is very capable of doing. The locals were great! Can’t say enough, Boujmaa is the man there! And Fettah rips hard too! The great thing is that all of them became like brothers after a few days, they really enjoyed the Wave Classic and the company as much as we did, and that’s what it’s all about here. Now we have friends for life, they have opened up to us like family and I really appreciate that, it’s the mentality that I found in Mexico once "Mi casa es tu casa'' which is hard to find nowadays, and the boys got rewarded for that. Before we left, we all left something behind for them, to have some extra gear to get in the water and rip it. The team concept works, for now that we’re still small it’s perfect, it’s still competitive but at the same time you don’t have the pressure of full competition and you can go for it. We judge each other, and this is a good way to start for then maybe having a real Wave world tour in some radical wave conditions. Regarding to my team’s ranking, ok for what it was, like we said it’s more of a trip than a real competition. I was a little unlucky getting some food poisoning on one of the better wave riding days, and instead of helping my team, I was at the hotel puking my guts out. I will remember that day for sure! My best souvenir was the smiles of the Moroccan kids, helping the kids put their little wetsuit and teaching them how to surf and windsurf, having the best time with the pros and went home with big smiles. That’s what it’s all about too in this kind of event, sharing the love to the next generation of Essaouira.

I loved the team concept, it takes the pressure out of the event and lets everyone have fun.  It feels more like you are going out to sail with your friends then sailing against them. The Arabic translation of Aloha is Marhaba and the people of
Morocco share it with everyone. Everywhere I went I felt like I was surrounded by family.  The locals rip!  They are all super stoked on windsurfing and it's easy to see why with such great conditions!  It's not that important to me what place we came in the contest, it was a fun event with friends.  I'm more motivated then ever to fly like Boujmaa and the other Moroccan locals. The best souvenir, the Moroccan brown sugar for sure!
