Le Lavandou was my target. To get there I had to deal with quite a bit of traffic, plenty of roundabouts and an all-around very slow progress. I didn´t know how the wind would be on the windward side, nor did I have any clue about the waves, that would expect me.

When I finally arrived, it took me a while to find beach access. The town sits in a narrow flat area between hills and rocky cliffs. Most of the flat parts of the area are occupied with buildings. I first tried the road to the yachting harbour, where I left the van for a first check. What I saw was pretty impressive. The wind had almost died, but there were still some really solid waves rolling in. Big, but not very well formed and without any halfway easy access to the lineup at the beaches besides the harbour. I decided to have a look at the town beaches, hoping that the jetties over there would give the swells more order.

When I reached the beach promenade, I got an idea of how savage this storm must have been. The road was partly closed due to flooding, and there was with sand and trash where there should have been neat and clean roads and boardwalks. The waves had size and furore and there was a lot of water moving.

To the left, close to the other yachting harbour, it looked a bit more makeable. There was a little channel, that stayed open most of the times and the waves had a bit more shoulder. A few guys on SUPs and a few surfers were out, taking advantage of this setup.
