The near shore forecasts promised 1m to 1,5m waves, with periods between 9 and 11 seconds. This already sounded nice. But some models showed a much mightier ground swell. On the other hand a little change in the wind directions could result in a very short session or even in a strong offshore killing a tiny swell. So we were very anxious during the whole drive. At least the wind was turning into the right direction and became pretty light shortly before we reached our destination at around ten in the morning. The first view of the North Sea proved that there was plenty of swell. Still a bit wobbly, but already worth the drive. But the Queen Of The Coast had already about 20 admirer in the line-up so we drove a little bit further. There we quickly paddled out into an empty line-up, got surprised by the actual power and size of the waves and didnīt know yet that this was just the beginning.

At the end of the day we looked back on 8 hours of swell with a size, power and quality, that we hadnīt seen here during the past 10 or so years. For the last few hours this was even combined with bright sunshine! Must have been a once in a decade coincidence.

Have a look and judge yourself >>>
